Mrs. Amy Rankin Lanier 92, of Charlotte,NC. passed away Thursday Februray 8, 2018 at Peak Resources Nursing and Rehab. Center. Funeral service will be held Thursday February 15, 2018 at First Mt.Zion Baptist Church. 1515 Remount Rd. Charlotte, NC 28208. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will be in York Memorial Park. Mrs. Amy Lee Rankin Lanier of Charlotte, North Carolina was born on July 24, 1925 to the late Katie Blackmon Rankin and the late Len Rankin Sr. in Mecklenburg County. She left for her flight to her heavenly home on Thursday February 8, 2018.

She married Henry Gomyer Lanier Sr. in 1944, from this union they were blessed with 4 loving children, 3 sons and one daughter. Her husband, Henry preceded her in death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by her youngest son, Jerry Lanier; her brother, Len Rankin Jr. and One sister Laura Lee Rankin.

Amy joined South Tryon Presbyterian Church at an early age and gave her life to Christ. She later joined First Mount Zion Baptist Church where she was an active and faithful member until her health failed.

Amy attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Schools and graduated
from Pineville School.

During her early adult life, she was employed with Latta Manufacture and Delta Knitting Mill. Later in life, she was employed with Lance Packing Company. She worked in the peanut department for 30 years, until she retired. She took full advantage of retirement and enjoyed her hobbies of traveling, bowling, YMCA water Aerobics, gardening, cooking and caring for her Cat “Sparky”. She also enjoyed spending time with the Golden Years Women’s Club and became very active in the Charlotte Community. She was very interested in local politics and often attended Charlotte City Council meetings.

Amy loved her family, friends, church family and neighbors. She loved helping and giving to others. She would often give her last to make someone else happy.

Amy Lee Lanier will truly be missed by everyone who knew her. She leaves to cherish her fond memories, two sons, Henry G. Lanier Jr. (Joyce) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Milton Lanier (Barby ) of Long Beach, California; one Daughter, Maxine Love of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother Lester McCoy of Charlotte, North Carolina; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grand children, 3 great great grandchildren and a very special niece/caregiver Carol Ann Rankin and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
