Ms Norma Lee  Sings 88, of  Charlotte, NC. passed away Wednesday November 1, 2017 at Saturn Nursing and Rehab. Center Charlotte, NC. Funeral service will be held Wednesday November 8, 2017 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah`s Witnesses 1315 Statesville Ave. Charlotte, NC 28206. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm .Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Gardens.

 

Norma Lee Sings was born in Lancaster, SC to the late Joseph Sings and Beauty Mae Sings, on  January 13, 1929. She was their firstborn child. Ms. Norma Lee Sings fell asleep in death on November 1, 2017  at the Saturn Rehabilitation Nursing Home.

Norma lived in Lancaster, SC until the age of 18. She finished high school in Greensboro, NC. Then later in the 1950’s she moved to New York City. She worked as a dietary aid in a hospital in Brooklyn NY. Then went back to school and got a job at Dean Wither Investment Co in New York. In 1989 she moved to Charlotte to take care of her father and mother.

Her mother had instilled in Norma a love for Bible reading. While in New York she began to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1957 and was a member of the Pacific Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses while in New York. That began her long career of teaching the Bible. She helped a lot of people to know Jehovah while in New York. She was known in Charlotte as a zealous teacher in the Greenville Long of Charlotte. She was also a world traveler, traveling to Egypt, other parts of Africa,  and Europe. Norma was a faithful witness for 60 years.

She loved cooking and working outside in her yard, sewing, singing, dancing and reading. She had a huge library.

Norma continued preaching until her dementia kept her from expressing herself. Norma was a strong will person that loved God and people.

Norma was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Sings, Jr. and Walter Sings, two sister, Annie Jane Sings and Helen Ballard.

She leaves behind to cherish fond memories, brothers, Melvin N. Sings, Carl Sings (Lilly), Larry J.D. Sings (Cynthia), Pernell Sings all of Charlotte, NC, Ned D. Sings (Chris) of Ft. Myers Park and honorary son, her nephew Kenneth W. Barnes of Charlotte, NC, a large host of 30 nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
