Mrs. Lena Beatrice  Dean 70 of Charlotte, passed away January 6, 2017 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House Huntersville. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Paul Presbyterian Church, 7200 Robinson Church Road Charlotte, NC 28215  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am the service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Markham Memorial Cemetery Chapel Hill, NC

Mrs. Lena Beatrice Dean was born October 25, 1946 to Eunice and Amorite Orr. She crossed over to be with the Lord on January 6, 2017.

Lena was educated at J.H.Gunn where she graduated in 1964. She was member of 4H Club and also played clarinet in the marching band and concert band. While in high school she was active in many service organizations  and  was crowned Miss J.H. Gunn. After high school, she furthered her education at CPCC. Later in life she attended Alamance Community College to study Interior Design.

In December 1967, she was married to George Morris and of this union were born three children. She was later united in marriage to Belmon Dean Jr which brought together a beautiful blended family. Belmon predeceased her on April 3, 1995.

Lena was employed at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as Zone Manager of Environmental Services until her health forced her to retire.

She enjoyed interior designing, often changing the look and feel of her residences many times to make her abode feel welcoming and comfortable. Lena was known to visit the homes of friends and share great ideas about how to enhance their living spaces. She was an avid traveler. Lena went on many cruises throughout the Western Caribbean, and traveled to many other destinations.

Lena was devoted member of Mt Gilead Baptist Church for 26 years. She served on the Usher Board, the Hospitality Committee, Inspirational Voices Choir, Voice of Heritages Choir, Mixed Choir, Women’s Ministry, and Mother’s Day Committee.

Left to mourn her passing are her children; Angela Quinette Morris of Charlotte, NC; Marcus Fitzgerald Morris I (Jennifer) of Charlotte, NC; Gregory Lamonte Morris (Michele) of High Point, NC.  Four stepchildren; special sons; Darryl Smith (Keshia) of Charlotte, NC and Steven Dalton (Lisa) of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two sisters; Judy Orr of Wilmington, NC and Pearly Huntley of Charlotte, NC; one niece; Eunice Olivia Myers of Pflugerville, TX, two nephews;  Jon-Christian Stubblefield of Hermiston, OR, Anthony Levon Huntley of Charlotte, NC,  two aunts; Katherine McClelland of Charlotte, NC and Betty Orr of Charlotte, NC, one goddaughter; Constance Gillespie Caldwell of Raleigh, NC; and host of other relatives and friends.
